The shingles and roof are installed. i was short about 3 shingles so i couldn't finish the ridge cap. That's a bummer because i will have to buy a whole pack of shingles at $24 per pack , just to finish it. I almost used some silver shingles that I have in my garage, but why start being a hack now?Better to do it right. I started putting in some old kitchen cabinets, I will take some pics when they are installed. And when i clean up inside

I went to Home depot and checked out their line of garage doors.Of course, I, like everyone else do not like to spend money unless I have to. So I went directly to the value section. The cheapest of the doors $244, were just that, cheap! They only have one thin panel( about an 1/8 inch thick) so I passed on this and went to the next more expensive model. $314. It is a door made by Clopay, this model has the same thin front panel , but also has insulation panels behind it. I like the look and feel of this model better.
The door came with an installation cd which helped a lot. It also gave me an excuse to get out of the heat and go into the house with air conditioning evry now and aagin. The cd said the average installation time would be about 4 hours. That translates into 6 for me. All in all it was quite easy, a one man job,and it it looks and works great. Now onto shingleing

We finished putting on the tyvek, also tar papered the roof. Windows and entry door also in, fascia and rake boards installed. Just have to go to store and pick up shingles for roof, or maybe i will just get garage door started first, to keep the rain out .I got the windows from my brother in-law, he had them just sitting in his garage for about twelve years. The entry door was from a remodel on an old house of mine. It's been sitting in storage for about 9 years.Typacal guys right? We will save anything that still has a usefull purpose in life.No were not hoarders! I have old kitchen cabinets from same re-model , I will be putting in shed. Alright, maybe we hoard a little.

We are moving right along on the shed. Roof is on , and we have the Tyvek almost all on.The Tyvek is a lot more expensive than it used to be.But that is what happens when everyone knows it's a quality product.I really should have cleaned up work site before I took picture.Tommorrow we will be putting up the rest of the Tyvek, put tar paper on roof to get ready for shingles, and maybe i will put in the windows and entry door. Stay Tuned

Like most homeowners, the longer you live in a house , the more stuff you seem to collect. I cant wait to complete this shed, it'll be nice to actually use my garage to park cars in again.
